People across the world are great admirers of Boys Love dramas, so much so that some BL dramas are considered the best among all Asian dramas. That is why Netflix offers tonnes of great BL dramas in its catalog for its viewers. In this post, I’ll be sharing with you a list of the 15 Best BL dramas streaming on Netflix.

NOTE: Depending upon your location, some of these dramas might not show on your Netflix, so you might have to use a VPN or something to resolve this problem.

1. SOTUS: The Series | พี่ว้ากตัวร้ายกับนายปีหนึ่ง

  • Logline: What started off as bickering ended up in a romantic fuss.
  • Country: Thailand
  • Year: 2016
  • Genre: Friendship, Romance
  • Cast: Prachaya Ruangroj, Perawat Sangpotirat, Chanagun Arpornsutinan

Sotus is a Thailand boy love drama that puts an entirely different perspective on an LGBTQ genre. I sat watching it without knowing it was a BL. The story kept me guessing from the very beginning and within no time I got hooked to the premise.

The show sets up in an engineering college where the practice of ragging and fresher abuse was a common scenario. It didn’t stop until Kongpob, a college fresher, stood up against arrogant third-year seniors and their leader- Arthit. This confrontation ignited a spark of resentment between the protagonists Kongpob and Athit. Little did they knew about the drastic outcomes of this dispute.

In a series of conflicts and continuous encounters two of them settled off as friends but at last, ended up as lovers.

I am sure most of you know, BL dramas are very popular in Thailand and this list will also be featuring a lot of Thai BL dramas. Love by chance is a great BL drama that brings out the complexities of being a young gay male in an orthodox society.

Pete is an intelligent, shy and silent boy. His timidness is caused by the fact that he is gay and chooses not to disclose it. His life went like this until he met Ae, a kindhearted boy of a similar age.

The show is one of the most refreshing and purest Boys Love dramas streaming on Netflix. It is definitely worth your your time.

During investigating a case, some suspicions lead Shao Fei to Tang Yi and both get involved in each other’s lives. Over time this relationship evolves into something more than rivalry.

Even though I have just put one part of HIStory Series in this list. Make sure you check out all the parts on Netflix because all of them are great and binge worthy.

Dark blue Kiss is a spinoff story of a famous Thai drama, ‘Kiss Me Again’. The two main characters of this drama were so popular that a separate drama was create for them and I must say it’s worth the watch. Both dramas are on Netflix for you to watch.

  • Country: Thailand
  • Year: 2019
  • Genre: Comedy, Romance, Life
  • Cast: New Chanyapuk, James Teerandon, Ice Paris

In my Best Thai bl drama article, I introduced it as the sweetest drama of the BL fantasy world. Since then, I have watched nearly 15-20 BL dramas but my opinion continues the same about this one. If you are searching for some sugary, soft, and comical gay drama to binge on, stop here and search for Great Men Academy on Netflix.

Love is a sassy high school girl who can’t get over her crush Vier who studies at the Great Men Academy. Since it’s a men academy, Love has no chance of making any contact with her crush. The show flips around when she meets a magical unicorn rumored to fulfill wishes. In the excitement of making Vier love her, she wishes for a way to get closer to vier. Unfortunately, her wish is misinterpreted by the unicorn and she gets converted to a boy.

Great Men Academy is an energetic, fast-paced drama with likable characters. Binge it if you’re looking for a fun fantasy drama and avoid it if you are only looking for sentimental and intense male love drama.

7. Diary of Tootsies

  • Logline: Tale of three gays and a lesbian in search of love.
  • Country: Thailand
  • Year: 2016
  • Genre: Comedy, Romance, Life
  • Cast: Petch Paopetch Charoensook, Pingpong Thongchai Thongkanthom

A simple story yet a unique premise. Yes, that’s what it is. A refreshing BL drama for those who enjoy sex comedy, friendship, and romance navigating through teenage life. The trailer projects it much like sexual humor, but it’s more than that and also highlights social evils like homophobia, infidelity, and love complications.

It follows the lives of 3 gay friends (Gus, Golf, Kim) who (surprisingly) have their breakup on the same day. Natty, their best girlfriend, who is a lesbian, is always there to comfort them for their heartbreaks.

When I watched this BL drama on Netflix, I totally loved it but when I looked around some people were not happy with it. It is one of those dramas that either you totally love or hate. But nonetheless, it will surely rile up your feelings.

Tine is a dashing guy who is chased by Green all the time but Tine doesn’t reciprocate the same feeling. To lose Green from his back, Tine asks Sarawat, a fellow college student to get into a fake relationship with him.

But with time, pretending starts turning into reality as the fake couple becomes closer to each other without even realizing it.

  • Country: Philippines
  • Year: 2020
  • Genre: Comedy, Romance, Life, Drama
  • Cast: Kokoy de Santos, Elijah Canlas, Adrianna So

A story set in a post-pandemic world, when most of the people are confined in their homes, romance has to go online. Gameboys is BL romance drama streaming on Netflix that doesn’t shy away from homoerotism and issues related LGBTQ+.

The show centers Cario, an online streamer who is caught by surprise when he receives a video call from his game rival Gavreel. We don’t need to stress much about what happens next as I have already cited the storyline of Hello Stranger above.

Gameboys bring forth a beautiful representation of gay characters, their emotions, sexuality, fears, and vulnerability. I am sure you’ll love the chemistry between our main leads.

10. Ossan’s Love

  • Country: Japan

While Thai Drama dominates the BL genre, there are few Japanese dramas that deserve to be talked about. In fact, prior to 2020, this was the only BL drama broadcasted in Japan. Ossan’s love is a light drama for those who don’t like to be emotionally invested in a drama.

  • Country: China
  • Year: 2019
  • Genre: Mystery, Drama
  • Cast: Xiao Zhan, Wang Yibo, Liu Haikuan

It’s less of Boys Love and more of a Bromance but the vibe that we get from the two main leads is totally mesmerizing that I had to put this Chinese drama on this list. It is also one of the most highly rated Chinese Dramas.

The story tracks the adventure of two brave men on a mission to banish the evil enduring in the kingdom. Wei Wuxian who once decided to fight against the ruling Wen sect goes missing and returns after 16 years and joins hands with the righteous Lan Wangji to unveil the real culprits behind prolonged murder mysteries.

I highly recommend you stream it on Netflix if you don’t want to watch too many gay scenes and just like to enjoy the sweet relationship between two guys.

  • Country: Thailand
  • Year: 2018
  • Genre:  Romance
  • Cast: Saiparn Apinya,Typhoon Kanokchat Big Thongpoom, Joke Akarin, Seo Jin Yeon

Love Triangle is not one of my favorite genres. I find it hard to get over all emotional melodrama and betrayal.

I found this drama on a Reddit forum. This drama talks about three different bl love triangles and thought of giving it a try. Turns out that it was available on Netflix and I enjoyed every bit of it.

It follows three parkour enthusiasts who can’t get enough thrill in life. Therefore they decide to flee to Bangkok and find their kick.

The video quality of this drama is great and isn’t what you normally expect from eastern shows.
