Romance animes is one of my most favorite anime genres. While scrolling through the catalog of Hulu, I came across many animes that I thought I should share with you if you also like romance animes.

In this post, I have curated a list of 20 Best Romance Animes on Hulu that you can watch at your pleasure. Though I’ve to state beforehand that not every anime on this list is fully romance-centric but the bearing of the genre is quite strong on the anime.

So without further ado, let’s get on to the list.

20. Date a live

  • Logline: Shidou would have never imagined the fate of the world would be decided by his way with the girls.
  • Year: 2013
  • Genre: Sci-FI, Harem, Comedy
  • Studio: AIC PLUS+
Date a Live

Date-a-live is a harem anime so there ain’t going to be any serious romance between the MC and the female lead because there are so many. But the concept of dating girls in the anime is the reason why I placed this anime on this list.

In a disastrous world constantly prone to space quakes, Shidou Itsuka gets caught up between the source of the eruption.

It is discovered that the space quakes were triggered by the appearance of mystical spirit girls and the only way to stop them is to make them fall in love. Shidou has no options left to take charge of the situation and use his non-existing dating powers to save the world.

19. High School DxD

  • Logline: Issei is given a second chance to live as a servant to a beautiful devil master Rias Gremory.
  • Year: 2012
  • Genre: Comedy, Romance
  • Studio: TNK
High School

High School DxD is one of the finest anime that I have watched. Though it is often associated with fanservice, the core story still translates to an ecchi romance fantasy. If excessive nudity and sizzling fanservice don’t bother you, you must consider this as your next romantic anime binge.

Issei is a top level perv. His first meet with a girl turns disastrous when she turns out to be a vicious fallen angel.

He is given a second chance to live as a demon by Rias Gremory, a pretty red-haired curvaceous woman and a demon of prime class.

Issei had always dreamed of owning his harem someday and there he was. Reincarnated as a demon and recruited to a club of devils among beautiful devil women.

18. Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama Kiss

Kamisama kiss is your cute light-hearted romance anime on Hulu. It is not the best romantic anime out there but is worthy enough to watch and have a great time. It presents a sweet blend of romance and comedy that will fill your heart with joy.

Nanami is homeless and looking for shelter. She reaches an old rundown shrine where the shine spirits were waiting for the replacement god of the shire and they mistakenly assume Nanami to be that person.

The fox spirit Tomoe is against the idea of a human girl being his master but by accident forms a contract with her. Together they face many awkward and dangerous situations and Nanami starts falling for the fox spirit.

17. Ouran High School Host Club

  • Logline: An innocent girl joins a school club filled with handsome boys.
  • Year: 2006
  • Genre: Comedy, Harem, Romance
  • Studio: Bones
Ouran High School Host Club

Like me, if you also prefer romantic comedy over any other sub-genre of romance then you must not miss this hilarious tale of love birds. It is one of the most enjoyable shows on the list. This show will introduce you to some of the funniest anime characters. It is one of the shows that is driven more by its characters than the story.

Haruhi is forced to join the all-men club as punishment when she accidentally breaks an item that belonged to the club.

The anime focuses on the relationship of Haruhi with the boys of the school club. Along with it, there are several moments where we get to see sweet and funny interactions between the boys.

I don’t know if this explanation is enough to spark your interest in this anime, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to watch it or not.

There is no denying the fact that romance anime mostly cater to the female audience. Only a few anime like Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun have an appeal enough to excite both men and women. It is another romantic comedy where comedy runs over love and romance.

The story follows high school girl Chiyo Sakura and her crush Umetarou Nozaki. Chiyo Sakura is in deep love with Nozoki. Nozaki is a shojo manga artist who is far away from the matters of love and relationships in real life.

Blue Spring Ride

Believe it or not, when it comes to romantic animes, the story is often secondary to the bond shared by the main characters. Blue Spring Ride is an example of one such anime where the intense connection between the main characters creates a gripping sequence of events. Each sub-genre of romance is overly done in anime and every title on this is the best among these sub-genres. Blue Spring Ride is no different.

The premise is set up in a high school. Futaba Yoshioka is a loner girl who finds it difficult to make friends despite being a popular student. But for her none of this matters.
