Let me put it straight- Eulachacha Waikiki is the best comedy-drama I have seen in my life. It is one of the most refined Kdrama sitcoms out there. Despite being full of illogical and sometimes cringy moments the show never fails to make you laugh in every other scene.

It centers on three ambitious friends who aspire to exceed in their fields of interest. To finance their dream project of their upcoming film, they start a guest house for foreign tourists called “Waikiki” However, they don’t have any idea of the ifs and buts of managing a guest house. This creates a hysterical situation of utter chaos and mismanagement.

In the course of bringing this evil master down Cha Ji-an and Lee Hyun develops an innocent youthful love.

The remake of a British TV series of the same name, the Korean version of Life on Mars, got released in 2018. I haven’t watched the UK version but I felt so content with the Korean version that I would rather rewatch the same again. Despite the serious nature of the show, it gracefully incorporates drama, comedy, and sci-fi setting a benchmark in the detective comedy-drama genre.

The show talks about Han Tae-Joo who heads an investigation team. He is a man of belief and possesses a strong reputation as a detective. One day on his regular routine of investigation, he gets injured badly and falls off unconscious. Upon waking up he discovers that he has somehow traveled back in time to the year 1988.

Lead and Villan of When the Devil Calls you in one frame

Though it is not technically a comedy-focused drama, still the interactions between our main characters were so amusing that I decided to put this drama on this list. And to be honest, you can’t blame me for this, Korean dramas put so many layers of emotions in one drama that it is difficult to distinguish the original feel of a show.

Ha Rip is a very talented musician but despite that, he is not getting the fame he desires. So in an utter attempt of desperation, he makes a deal with the Devil, and all his desires come true. But when the Devil later comes back to collect his due, Ha Rip tries to do everything to save his life.

Jo Kang-Ja is a 34-year-old single mother with a teenage daughter, Oh Ah-ran. Both struggle through their argumentative relationship.
