It also has some really expressive characters and the cute art style reminds us of our favorite 90s series like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. 


Setup in a fantasy world called the Land of Arcadia, the story recites the tale of young Angelique who desires to become the hero someday. Before anything else, Angelique was just a normal school-going student.

The animation is really well done, and it’s nice to see an anime without excessive violence or tragedy for once.


The anime Fruit Basket is about a girl called Tohru Honda. Tohru has just lost her mother in an accident and so she moves to the Sohma family’s house to live with them. 

The Sohmas are cursed. If they are hugged by the opposite sex of the one they love, they turn into their zodiac animal form. Tohru becomes friends with many of the cursed family members like Yuki (who turns into a black cat) and Kyo (a red-haired boy who turns into a dog).

The story revolves around how Tohru tries to end the curse but also shows kindness to all of the people she meets along the way.

14. Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play

  • Logline: Miaka is transported to a fantasy world on the brink of war between good and evil.
