First of all, I’d like to welcome all the Men/Women Of Culture who are reading this post right now. As a Man of Culture myself, I am very proud to present to you the list of 15 Animes where the Main Character is a Trap.
We are assembled here to acknowledge trap animes that have confused the minds of many and made people question their preferences.
Although there are a lot of very famous trap characters, I’ve not included those who had very less screen time and a supporting role in their respective animes. This post is solely focused on animes where the trap character is in the lead role.
So without further ado, let’s get started.
15. Kämpfer | けんぷファー

Synopsis
Suppose one day you wake up as opposite gender. The world wouldn’t be the same again. This is exactly what the protagonists of Kampfer Natsuru go through.
One day he wakes up and realized his body has changed to a woman. Adding to the confusion a stuffed tiger comes to life and tells him what happening around him.
Harakiri Tora, the stuffed tiger told Natsuru that he has been chosen as a female fighter called the “Kampfer”. Kampfer is a destined woman hero who fights with evil Kampfer in the world.

Natsuru is one of the main protagonists of Kamufr. He is an average high school student who lived a normal otaku life till one day he wakes up as a girl.
His parents live abroad and he lives alone. His appearance was quite average for a boy but upon his transformation, to a girl, he turns into a curvy blonde like the one you see in typical ecchi anime.
14. Princess Jellyfish | 海月姫
- Logline: Akiko is fed up with her otaku roommates and looks for a new friend in a newly met woman names Kuranosuke.

Synopsis
Adapted from a manga series of the same name, is short anime summed up in 11 episodes that talks about a jellyfish otaku woman Akiko Higashimura. She lives with her lazy flatmates in a women-only society.
Akiko Higashimura is obsessed with jellyfish since her childhood. One day her efforts of saving a jellyfish are backed by a beautiful woman named Kuranosuke Koibuchi.
Akiko is impressed by Kuranosuke’s appearance and her like-minded nature and invites her to her flat. Little did she knew the truth behind the attractive figure.

Synopsis
While most anime where the main character is a trap depicts a similar-looking story Cheeky Angel presents a completely different package.
Megumi Chan believes that she was initially a boy until she is fooled by a magical genie when she was nine.
One day when she saves an odd man from a gang of ferocious children and as thanks, she receives a magical book that could summon a genie.
He wishes to become a strong man but his wish is wrongly interpreted by the genie and he becomes a girl instead.

We see most trap characters are intuitive but this one comes out of compulsion. Megumi is a boy until the age of nine. But an accident led her to find herself as a girl.
Even so, she is a beautiful-looking girl from the outside, she hasn’t been able to accept herself as a woman from the inside. Due to this, she is obnoxious about the idea of dating a boy.
Her masculine mannerism and ability to fight and jump higher than most boys of her class is an element of surprise for many. She desperately looking for the magic book to reverse the magic spell done by the Genie.
12. The Minami Family | みなみけ

Synopsis
Makoto is an elementary schoolboy who has a crush on Minami Haruka, who is in high school. Haruka’s sister Kana decides to help Makoto in his pursuit of love.

8. Himegoto | ひめゴト
- Logline: Chased by loan sharks, Arikawa Hime is forced to dress like a girl in his school.

Synopsis
Arikawa Hime is a young boy chased by loan sharks until he is saved by the Shimoshina High School student council filled with beautiful girls.
