But some movies very so exceptional that they left a deep impact on its audiences. That is why to this day people remember each and every little detail of those movies and still laugh watching it.

In this post, I have created a list of 30 All-time Best Bollywood comedy movies that made me laugh like crazy.

It is one of those Bollywood comedy movies that not only make you laugh but make you very emotional as well. ‘Good Newwz’ is a movie that has everything to offer, thanks to its amazing story and cast.

The story revolves around two couples with the same surname who are unable to have a baby and thus go for the in-vitro fertilization procedure in the same clinic. But due to their same surname, the doctors mistakenly mix up the sperms of both couples with each other and trouble ensues.

The first half of the movie is filled with laughter, but later in the second half, the movie gets a little serious. So if you haven’t watched Good Newwz yet, I would say it is worth your time.

2. Badhai Ho

  • Logline: A man’s life changes for the worst when he finds out that his mother is pregnant.
  • Year: 2018
  • Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao

The movie touches upon a social issue that is considered taboo in our country and presents a story with a great message and all of that is done in a fun way.

Nakul is a 25-year-old guy with a decent job, a family and a girlfriend. Everything is going well for him until he finds out that his mother is pregnant. This whole incident makes Nakul very embarrassed and he starts avoiding society.

This Bollywood comedy movie is filled with funny moments and dialogues. The acting is phenomenal and the best part is that you can relate to everything our main characters are going through.

3. Bareilly Ki Barfi

  • Logline: A cute romantic comedy set in the small town of Bareilly.
  • Year: 2017
  • Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao

A story inspired is by the book of Nicolas Barreau called ‘The Ingredients of Love’ with a Desi touch. This Bollywood comedy movie is a full package of laughter.

Bitti (Kriti) after reading the book ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ gets really impressed with the author and contacts him. The book was originally written by Chirag (Ayushman), but he didn’t want his identity to reveal so Chirag put up a picture of Pritam (Rajkumar) on the book cover. In all this confusion, Chirag falls for Bitti but can’t tell her the truth since Bitti likes Pritam.

The movie is as Desi as it can get, which helps it to connect with the audience better. If you by chance haven’t watched it yet, then go and watch it now.

4. Bala

Logline: A story of a man who gets bald prematurely and how it affects his life.
Year: 2019
Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam

Ayushman Khurrana is definitely doing wonders in the comedy genre as you can see a lot of his movies made it into the list. This Bollywood comedy movie touches upon a topic that many men go through in their lives and that is going bald early.

Bala was very confident when he was a boy and was very proud of himself. But all of that changes when he becomes an adult and starts losing his hair. All of his confidence goes with it. He starts getting rejecting both in work and love life which makes his life laughing stock for others.

Bala gives a message of loving oneself no matter what other thinks of you. I’ll highly recommend you to watch this movie if you haven’t watched it yet.

5. Shubh mangal Saavdhan

  • Logline: A couple falls in love and decides to marry but later they find that the groom has erectile dysfunction.
  • Year: 2017
  • Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Seema Bhargava

This Bollywood comedy movie is a remake of the 2013 Tamilian movie called ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’. Unlike many other remakes that are sometimes complete disgrace to the original movie, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a gem in the comedy genre.

The story revolves around Mudit and Sugandha who are in love with each other and decides to marry. But just a few days before marriage they find that Mudit has erectile dysfunction. Soon after that both the families of the groom and bride also get to know of this problem which leads to a lot of awkward and funny moments n the movie.

The movie relies heavily on a lot of double meaning jokes. So this is not a comedy movie that you can watch with your family. But none the less it is definitely worth watching.

6. Phir Hera Pheri

  • Logline: After getting rich and owning a big bungalow, the trio is all set to double their wealth with Raju initiating the bet.

With money comes the greed for more money and that’s what led Raju to get cheated by a con artist giving off one crore hoping for his money to double in 21 days.

The movie is filled with funny moments and comic punches. The acting of all the cast is just amazing. It is one of those movies that you can watch over and over again and still find it funny.

8. 3 Idiots

  • Logline: The chronicles of three friends during their times in an engineering college together.
  • Year: 2009

You can say this movie is the pride of Indian cinema. Adapted from Chatan Bhagat’s book called ‘Five points something’, this movie not only rocked the Indian theaters but was a major hit globally.

The story revolves around three best friends that met each other at an engineering college and parted ways later. But then the two friends (Madhvan and Sharman) decide to look for the third friend (Amir) years later when they get info of his whereabouts. The movie then proceeds in two timelines, the present, and the past.

The movie made its audience laugh, cry and then laugh again. You can imagine the popularity of this Bollywood comedy movie by this that it was remade in Mexican.

  • Logline: Two thieve brothers get on the bad side of a big criminal, so they decide to go in hiding to save themselves.
  • Year: 2003
  • Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Amrita Arora

I was very young when this movie released and from that time till now, I might have watched it over fifty times and it’s still not getting old. This movie is close to my heart so I might be a little biased here but it deserves to be on this list.

The movie revolves around two thieve brothers, Tara and Sitara. One day they accidentally get on the bad side of a big criminal, so they decide to go in hiding for some time. While running they reach the house of an army major who takes them in thinking they are good people. But their luck always brings both of them in harm’s way.

The movie is quite childish but that’s what makes it unique. You can always watch it with family and have a good laugh together.

Bol Bachchan is one of those few Bollywood comedy movies that will make you laugh no matter how many times you watch it. Directed by Rohit Shetty with Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, this movie is definitely in a class of its own.

Abbas(Abhishek) breaks the lock of a temple to save a child’s life. Being a Muslim, he decides to hide his identity and starts working for Prithvi (Ajay) under a fake alias. One lie leads to another creating a ton of misunderstandings and laughter.

11. Golmaal, Fun unlimited

  • Logline: Four notorious friends plan refuge in a bungalow owned by a blind couple.

One of the most successful Bollywood franchise, Golmaal, is also accessible on youtube. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie superbly merges different aspects of the story like the childish play of four leads, sentiments of blind couples, gangsters chasing treasure, etc and presents an entertaining show to the viewers.

You may have watched it once but rewatching stuff like this too promises you a good time. Few of its other parts are also uploaded on youtube by some unknown sources, so if you want to skip this part you can always hop to some another sequel on youtube.

12. Go Goa Gone

  • Logline: 3 friends having a good time on a remote island on goa wakes up to know that the island is infested with zombies.
  • Year: 2013
  • Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das

One of my friends insisted that I should watch this movie and one day out of curiosity I searched for it on youtube and was surprised to know that full movie was available on youtube. The movie is one of its kind and doesn’t let you lose interest for even a minute.

The story of three friends on an island getting chased by zombies does seem a little messy at first but the comical punches and top-notch acting by the cast make it a must-watch for all Hindi viewers.

Around mid-January, there had been an announcement the sequel of Go Goa Gone will be released in 2021 and will feature aliens instead of zombies.

13. Bhool Bhulaiyaa

  • Year: 2007
  • Cast: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Ameesha Patel

My one of the most favorite movie on the list, it not only made me laugh like crazy but gave serious chills too. ‘Bhool Bhuliyaa’ is a classic example of how to make a perfect horror-comedy. Even after a decade of its release, Bhool Bhuliyaa is still class apart from the horror comedies made today.

The story revolves around an NRI couple Siddharth and Avni. Upon returning to India they insist on staying at the ancestral home, despite the family members’ objections. The mansion is considered to be haunted by ghosts and soon some unexplainable events make Siddharth call on his doctor friend to help solve the mystery.

It is highly unlikely that you haven’t seen this masterpiece. But in case you are slow, just drop everything and watch it.

The highest-grossing movie after Om Shanti Om in 2007, Welcome was highly appreciated by the viewers all over India. Filled with legend actors who are well known for their funny acting make this movie a blast.

Each character has been depicted neatly and almost every lead possesses a unique characteristic that drives them to misfortunes and produces an amusing sight to the viewers.

This 2 hours 40 min long movie is full of entertaining punches that will keep you hooked even if you have decided to rewatch.

MUST SEE  Is Dolittle available on Hulu? How to watch Dolittle?

15. Malamal Weekly

  • Year: 2011
  • Cast: Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Riteish Deshmukh, Rajpal Yadav

What’s the worst that can happen to you if you win a lottery? You lose all your money, you get mad or YOU DIE! That’s what sets the comical plot of this story low budget Bollywood comical.

Jackpot’s winner, Anthony passes off in a shock that he has won a lottery, now everyone around him including the jackpot agent wants all the money. The movie is a series of funny events where eventually person after person the whole village is compromised as partners in the lottery money.

Named after a lottery ticket, Malamal Weekly still remains a very underrated Bollywood comedy of all time and is a must-watch once in a lifetime.

16. Hey Baby

  • Year: 2007
  • Cast: Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Riteish Deshmukh

Directing his first movie, Sajid Khan set a benchmark by releasing the first Bollywood movie in Blu Ray disc in HD quality. Sajid Khan had planned 4 different endings to balance out the comical and emotional part of the movie and the best one was carried out in the end.

The story revolves around a trio of playboys who lives in Sydney and loves to flirt around with women but this came to an end soon as a little roommate lands up at their doorstep.

All in all the movie is packed with bundles of humor and some emotional dips and is definitely one of the best Bollywood comedy movies to watch.

17. Khosla Ka Khosla

  • Logline: K.K Khosla, a retired middle-class family man is devasted to know that his land is occupied by a fraud trait dealer.
  • Year: 2006
  • Cast: Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parvin Dabas

This one is probably one of the most realistic Bollywood comedy movie ever made in the history of Bollywood. A neat yet engaging plot features not so big names on the star cast yet presents a full entertaining hour for the viewers.

Story centers K.K Khosla (Anupam Kher) and his middle-class family. One day he plans a visit to a plot of land he had purchased to build his house but the earth shook under his legs when he realizes that he had been tricked by his property dealer Kishan Khurana (Boman Irani).

Every actor has played superbly especially Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. The funny scenes have been beautifully merged into context and don’t seem redundant at all.

No doubt the movie is also one of the underrated Bollywood masterpieces and I will soon compile a list of all such movies.

18. Dhol

If you ask me, any list that talks about the best ‘Bollywood Comedy movies’ is incomplete if ‘Dhol’ is not a part of it. The movie is so funny that you will be jumping all over trying to contain your laughter.

The story revolves around four lazy friends who decide to go after a rich girl to have a comfortable lifestyle. They all try to impress that girl but fails miserably. However, their lives take a turn for worse when they get entangled with an infamous criminal.

Rarely, there be anyone who might not have watched this masterpiece, but if you happen to be one of those, hurry up and watch it now.

Another Bollywood comedy movie that deserves all the praises it gets. A movie filled with great actors that are especially famous for their comedy roles, and over the top funny story makes it a treat to watch.

The story revolves around four lazy friends who one day come across a dying man who gives them the location of his hidden treasure. This leads them on a journey to get the treasure, where they go through a whole lot of funny encounters and meet other people who are also behind the same treasure.

Every second of the movie is enjoyable and not just only the main cast but each and every character has something really funny to offer to the film. A film worth to be rewatched over and over again.

20. Bhagam Bhag

  • Logline: When faced with the charges of murder, the heroes are forced to escape to clear their names.
  • Year: 2006
  • Cast: Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal

It happens sometimes in a comedy movie that more focus is given on the dialogues and funny moments than the story. But Bhagam Bhag is a movie that has a very strong storyline that will keep you hooked at all times.

The story revolves around three main characters Bunty, Babla, and Champak who works for a drama troupe. They are invited to London to perform, where during a show the come across a dead body and thus are charged for murder. However, they manage to escape and decide to prove their innocence and find the real culprit.

This Bollywood comedy movie is the prime example of comedy done with class. Every character has a part to play in the larger scheme of the story and is not just there for comedic purposes, unlike other movies. A must watch for everybody.

21. Pyaar Ka Panchnama

Logline: Three flatmates experience their life change after falling in love.
Year: 2011
Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Raayo S. Bakhirta, Divyendu Sharma

A Bollywood comedy movie targeting the younger generation and their relationship crisis in a fun way. Even if you haven’t watched the movie, you might have definitely seen the famous monologue of Kartik Aaryan where he is ranting about women in general.

The story starts with three friends living a good life until they all get in relationships. The movie then goes on to show how their partners turn their life miserable and suck out all the happiness out of their lives.

The movie can be seen biased against women but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s hilarious. I am sure many new-age couples might relate to what been shown in the movie.

22. Delly Belly

  • Logline: Three flatmates run into life-threatening trouble when the unwillingly misplace a precious package of a ruthless gangster.
  • Year: 2011
  • Cast: Imran Khan, Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur

A black comedy produced by Amir Khan and UTV productions ran into controversies for its vulgarity and sexual content but on the other side entertained its target audience with the same abusing comedy its hilarious story.

Tashi, Arup, and Nitin, three friends were unaware of the troubles they were about to face because of their silly mistakes. Nitin’s upset stomach and Tashi’s girlfriend’s package make their life and roof crash down.

I don’t strictly don’t recommend you watching this is you are under 18. A friend of mine had a tough time when he and his parents had an immediate plan for a movie and ended up watching Delly Belly.

23. Jolly LLB

  • Logline: A struggling and ambitious Advocate decides to make it big by reopening a high profile case against his idol.
  • Year: 2013
  • Cast: Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao, Boman Irani

This Bollywood comedy is a social satire on the law system in India. Based on the typical Bollywood style story the movie gained a reputation for revealing the real face of Indian courts that had been wrongly depicted by Bollywood movies for a long time.

Jolly played by Arshad Warsi is a struggling advocate desperate to make his name in the field of law. He decides to fight a high profile case and had to face his own idol in the opposition.

Surely not Arsad Warsi’s best but like always its a fun time to watch him in a comedy Bollywood movie.

24. Grand Masti

  • Logline: Three guys looked forward to having a good time in a college reunion landed in a plightful situation.
  • Year: 2013

The first Bollywood adult comedy in India to gross over 100 crore rupees on the box office. The prequel, Masti was lead by Ajay Devgan and we can still see him on the main poster for the film in a picture frame.

Meet, Prem, and Amar, three college friends who unite together in a college reunion hoping to have a good time. After hilarious meetings with the ladies at the college, each of them was able to get a girl for the night but fate leads them to a predicament.

If you are one of those whose childhood got spoiled by movies like American pie then you should definitely watch this “A” rated movie.

25. Hungama

  • Logline: A series of misconceptions and confusion among the characters lead to chaotic yet comical outcomes.
  • Year: 2003
  • Cast: Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, Rimi Sen

Parvesh Rawal undoubtedly has set great benchmarks in Indian Bollywood Comedy movies but this one came out as a success on part of all main characters that played their absurd roles excellently.

Revolving around the story of five main characters who run into utter confusion about their relationships with others resulting in ridiculous circumstances to the end.

A neat and plain Bollywood comedy that will make you burst into laughter if not on the silly jokes but surely through the climax.

26. Paadosan

  • Logline: A hilarious story of a naive village guy falls for an educated rich girl living next door
  • Year: 1968
  • Cast: Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Mehmood

We can’t possibly compile a list of best comedy movies in India without mentioning this movie.

This entertainer gave us some of the best hit songs of all time like “Mere Samne wali Khidki” (Kishore Kumar) and “Ek Chatur Naar Karke Singaar” (Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar).

Originally based on a Bengali story, ‘Pasher bari’ that deals with an innocent village man who realizes that he is of marriageable age and comes to the city where he falls for a girl living next door.

A simple plain story but epic direction and performances turned this movie into a laugh riot.

27. Coolie No. 1

  • Logline: Raju is a Coolie but pretends to be a rich business to marry the girl he likes.
  • Year: 1995
  • Cast: Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Kader Khan

Directed by David Dhawan and written by Rumi Jaffery and Kader Khan, this comical cult became one of the most liked films of Karishma Kapoor and Govinda. Govinda was awarded the ‘performer of the decade‘ for this remarkable act even though it was a remake of a Tamil film Chinna Mapillai.

Raju, a coolie (performed by Govinda) was convinced by Pandit Shaadiram (a matchmaker) to disguise as a rich man and travel to a village and marry Chaudhary’s daughter Malti (Karishma Kapoor).

David Dhawan is making a remake of Coolie no. 1 with Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan and is supposed to release by May 2020.

28. Angoor

  • Logline: 2 pairs of identical twins get separated at birth and their lives run into confusion when they meet in their adulthood.
  • Year: 1982
  • Cast: Sanjeev Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Deven Verma

Based on Shakespeare’s ‘A Comedy of Errors’, this story orbits around 2 pairs of identical twins performed by Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Sharma.

The movie is truly a series of errors as the identical twin’s face a lot of unusual things in their life, all of which adds to the amusement in the movie.

If you are born before the 90s there is a slightly less chance of you missing this movie but still, if you haven’t, your parents might give you perfect review about this desi comedy of errors.

29. Bombay To Goa

  • Logline: An adventure comedy centered around a Mala, a girl who boards a bus to save her life from a murderer.
  • Year: 1972
  • Cast:  Mehmood, Aruna Irani, Amitabh Bachchan

Believe it or not, this was the first movie of Amitabh Bachchan as a lead actor. You may be surprised but what’s even more surprising is that this role was being offered to Rajiv Gandhi when he wasn’t a part of INC.

The passengers on the bus come from different parts of India and possess unique traits due to which the movie is filled with hilarious jokes and aa lot of slapstick comedy.
All the characters are unique in some way but my favorite guy is the fat foodie who will do anything to get those pakoras.

30. Chachi 420

  • Logline: A father’s love for his daughter makes him dress up like a woman causing witty and unpredictable situations to the end.
  • Year: 1997
  • Cast: Kamal Haasan, Amrish Puri, Om Puri

It is the first movie directed by the talented Kamal Hassan. He didn’t just direct it but took the most difficult role of impersonating a 60-year-old woman to himself.

To stay in touch with his daughter, Jaiprakash, a divorcee father decides to work as a caretaker for his own daughter by disguising himself as an old lady.
If you haven’t already watched this one you have missed a load of laughter in your life. The film is quite unique and amusing to watch and entertainingly covers every aspect.

I am sure there must be more movies deserving the tag of Best Bollywood Comedy Movies, so I’d like you to mention some of them in the comment section below.
Thank you.
